I started messing around making pickles a few years ago. I love the idea of being able to make things from scratch. In the last year or so that’s extended to making jams and jellies. And it seems I have a knack for it!

Enjoying a very refreshing little cocktail (which also helps to use up some of the gherkin cucumbers I may have let get too big for pickling)

Muddle together: 
1/3 cup cucumber chunks
A sprig
Yum! Venison back strap, tomato salad and cucumber salad. 

Back strap was from the little fallow spiker 🦌 I shot a couple months back, tomatoes 🍅 , cucumbers 🥒 and herbs from the garden. Love it when a meal is almost entirely self grown or harves
Sneaky buggars. I swear they hide. None of them were a good size 24 hours ago.

Super simple, Asian inspired, venison salad for dinner tonight. Venison cooked on BBQ to a medium rare, with (home grown) salad greens, cucumber, avocado and a Vietnamese style dressing. Venison doesn’t always have to be roasts or steaks 👍

First gherkin cucumbers have emerged (may have let them got for a day or two too long, but they’ll be right). Hoping for a good flush this week so I can pickle a bunch.

10 jars of strawberry chilli sauce - this stuff is great. It’s like a sweet chilli sauce but with a bit more kick. Using up a kilo of strawberries that Husband bought and didn’t eat, plus last year
